What is the warranty of the Mako?

Arbiter sets a new standard for the warranty of a digital backflow gauge:

  • Arbiter warrants that all Mako gauges sold shall be free from defects in workmanship and manufacturer’s defects for (5) five years. Contact Arbiter with service or warranty questions.
  • Warranty for accessories (hoses, soft padded case, valves, etc.) are limited to (1) one year.
  • Consumables (batteries, water filters, etc.) do not have a warranty.

Exact terms and conditions about the warranty are found in the Mako operator manual

Why is USC approval important?

  •  As the most prominent independent foundation dedicated to cross-connection control USC FCCCHR maintains the strictest and most well-regarded standards for backflow prevention assemblies themselves as well as for the field test kits.
  • The USC FCCCHR requires a field test kit that is rugged and reliable, accurate, and all wetted components must be constructed of food-safe materials
  • The Mako is the ONLY field test kit to meet these high standards.

The units are in kPaD, how do I get back to PSID?

Does the Mako require annual calibration?

    • Yes, like all backflow test kits, the accuracy of the Mako must be verified by a lab standard. We recommend having this done annually.
    • The verification lab must be properly equipped with an up-to-date, certified reference standard.
    • Find a verified Mako calibrator

What's the problem if I use a calibrator not on the calibration map?

    • If you want to use a calibrator who has not been verified by Arbiter, they should still be able to verify the accuracy status of the Mako gauge. However, they will likely NOT be able to service the Mako properly, nor will they likely be able to update the calibration date written to the Mako itself.
    • Feel free to have them reach out to us at 503-847-4936 or use our contact form at the bottom of the page to inquire about how to get verified.
